The 4-Part Post-Purchase Email Sequence That Makes $1M a Month

Watch the full video teardown on YouTube here!

Most business owners are obsessed with front-end marketing. They spend all their time, energy, and money trying to convert cold traffic, completely ignoring the goldmine sitting in their backend.

Here is the reality: You have a 60% to 70% chance of selling to an existing customer, compared to a measly 5% to 20% chance of selling to a cold lead. Today, I am tearing down the exact 4-part email sequence Maria Wendt uses to generate around $1 million every four weeks. She drops buyers into this specific flow the moment they purchase, hitting them in the exact window where they are hottest and most likely to spend again.

Here is the step-by-step breakdown of her million-dollar sequence, and the one tweak I would make to increase conversions even further.

Email 1: The Immediate Value Anchor (Sent Right After Checkout)

Subject Line: open now for your welcome gift 🎁

The second a customer buys, she strikes. This email isn't just a generic "thank you for your purchase." It is an immediate, high-urgency upsell.

Email 2: The 24-Hour Nudge

Subject Line: Did you get your welcome gift yet??

Exactly 24 hours later, the second email hits. This is a pure curiosity check-in.

She doesn't aggressively push the sale here. Instead, she uses a casual, direct subject line to nudge the people who haven't opened the first email yet. This style of casual follow-up is working incredibly well in current email marketing because it feels personal rather than promotional.

Email 3: The Proof and The Pitch

Subject Line: $273k strategy over the freaking moon 🌙

This is where the sequence gets fun. If you are selling coaching, consulting, or digital products, your audience doesn't necessarily want "more products"—they want proof that your stuff works.

Email 4: The 1-Hour Warning

Subject Line: 1 hour left!! 🚨

This is the final email, sent exactly one hour before the 48-hour deadline expires.

It is short, punchy, and leverages the siren emoji to create immediate visual panic. She repeats the same discount code and frames it as their absolute last chance. Anyone who has been sitting on the fence converts right here simply because humans are hardwired to avoid missing out.

The One Tweak I Would Make

This flow is incredibly highly optimized, but there is one thing I would change to push conversions even higher.

Currently, she uses a generic discount code (like "WELCOME"). I would make the welcome code customized.

Consumers are completely blind to standard marketing emails—they skim right past them. A customized code forces the reader to stop their scroll, breaks their automatic reading pattern, and draws their attention directly to the offer.

Stop Leaving Money on the Table

If you are not dropping your new buyers into a highly optimized, 48-hour upsell sequence, you are actively losing money. The backend is where you actually scale.
